Eungulla National Park, Australia
Life is vibrant and dense in tropical rainforests such as those found in Finch Hatton Gorge, Australia. It’s the natural equivalent of somewhere like New York City – if you sit still long enough, you’ll find life crawling all over you.
The is the infamous Strangler Fig. The poor host tree beneath those roots sat still long enough. A seed was deposited in the upper branches, and the fig roots found their way to the host’s base, before stealing it’s nutrition.
It’s a sinister process, but beautiful. From our perspective it’s all life, so it’s not obvious who to root for.
